Workers’ Skills Put to the Test

On Saturday, March 14, the American Red Cross - Dallas Area Chapter will conduct mock drills in local neighborhoods to test the skills of newly trained Disaster Assessment workers. From 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, approximately 160 trained volunteers will participate in a multi-county mock exercise in disaster assessment. The volunteers will be drilled in determining the type of damage and relaying the information back to the American Red Cross Command Center in Dallas. The American Red Cross relies on these trained volunteers to provide an assessment of impacted homes to determine the amount of meals, volunteers, and supplies that will be sent to a disaster site. For street coordinates of teams on the ground on Saturday, March 14, call the Public Affairs desk at: 817-296-0612. To become a trained American Red Cross Disaster Assessment volunteer training will be held at the end of March.
