Join Us For Our Launch Of The Ready Rating Program

Program Seeks to Prepare Business and Schools for Emergencies

With North Texas identified as one of the most disaster-prone geographic areas in the nation, The American Red Cross is launching a new one-of-a-kind Ready Rating program to help both schools and businesses in the Dallas area plan and prepare for any emergency.

Schools and businesses can face a number of emergencies that threaten to disrupt their operations, ranging from natural disasters such as tornadoes, floods and wildfires to the possible widespread H1N1 flu virus that looms this fall and winter. In fact, one in four businesses forced to close after a disaster never reopen and Ready Rating can help businesses from becoming part of that statistic.

In an effort to educate local schools and businesses about the new Ready Rating program, the American Red Cross is hosting a Ready Rating Rally:

When: Wednesday, September 23, 2009
Where: American Red Cross, 4800 Harry Hines Blvd., Dallas, Texas
Time: 10:00a.m.-10:30a.m.
Who: William Bunting, National Weather Service
Representatives from the Office of Emergency Management American Red Cross-Dallas Area Chapter

The Red Cross Ready Rating program offers free memberships to businesses and schools, which can use an online checklist that measures their current preparedness efforts. Ready Rating members score themselves annually with the checklist and maintain their membership by developing and implementing an emergency response plan and improving their overall score each year.

Ready Rating also encourages businesses and schools to promote personal preparedness efforts among employees, students and families.
