Commitment to Older Americans Exhibited by Dallas Area Chapter
Kevin Billing, director of preparedness, American Red Cross-Dallas Area Chapter, will receive the “Outstanding Leadership” award from Philips Lifeline on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 1:00p.m.
Philips Lifeline is a medical alert service, which in the event of an emergency or fall provides access to help at the push of a button. The Dallas Area Chapter provides the Lifeline service to more than 1,100 seniors for less that a dollar a day.
Last year, Billings and his team grew the program by nearly 190 new subscribers, more than any other Red Cross chapter in the nation.
“I am honored to receive this award,” said Billings. “Lifeline is such an important program for seniors in our community. Because of the program, many older Americans can continue to live independently. We’re proud to offer it as a Red Cross service.”
