Disaster Action Team (DAT) Responds to Fire

An American Red Red Cross DAT team responded to a single-family fire this afternoon. When the volunteers arrived, they met a family of five who was displaced by the fire. The volunteers provided the clients with emergency, financial assistance for food, a couple of stuffed animals for the children, and they assisted the family with finding a place to stay.

While the DAT team was assisting the affected family, a gentleman from a nearby church came to offer their parking lot and facilities. The DAT team, and family alike, were very appreciative of this act of generosity from the community.

  1. Good job Kris, Will, and Nermine! So what happened with the car problems??

  2. When a DAT team member's vehicle battery failed, a nearby resident offered a set of jumper cables to assist the team member. This was an example of where the Red Cross extended a helping hand, and then we welcomed help from the community. Moreover, our team member may have successfully recruited a new volunteer.
